Matt Bader – Practice Lead

Matt works with a broad range of clients on their talent management challenges and opportunities. He brings deep knowledge of talent management and has experience running enterprise-wide transformations across people, process and technology domains. Matt has advised clients in the retail, education, finance, and professional services industries. He also brings a wealth of unique and complementary experience serving as a leader in military and nonprofit sectors.

As one of the earliest employees of The Gunter Group, Matt has been instrumental in building the firm’s own talent capability. He was the company’s first recruiting lead and built the talent strategy and infrastructure from the ground up. Building on his client delivery experience in the talent space, Matt was charged with defining and building The Gunter Group’s Talent Management practice. He currently runs the Talent Management practice, overseeing client delivery for the Portland and satellite offices.

A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Matt spent his academic and military career studying and employing character-based leadership principles in challenging and ambiguous environments. He has been building and leading high-performing teams throughout his military and consulting career.  Matt brings more than a decade of experience in leadership and talent.

Outside of his consulting work, Matt is the President of Checking For Charity, a nonprofit that raises money and awareness for charity through competitive hockey events. He is also the co-founder of Vetwork PDX, an organization that is dedicated to connecting Portland’s veteran and business community through networking.
